Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology > About us
The theoretical particle physics and cosmology group at the Niels Bohr Institute is involved in a wide scope of research activities centered around quantum theories of gauge fields, gravity and astrophysics. The group consists roughly of 8 faculty, 16 non-permanent staff members including postdocs, 10 PhD students, as well as several emeriti and affiliated members. We have close ties with the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA) and the Discovery center for particle physics.
At the moment we have two types of recurring events, which are announced in the group calendar.
- Once (or twice) a week we organize a high energy theory seminar (HET seminar) on a broad range of topics of interest to theoretical physicists. These seminars usually take place in Auditorium A on Thursdays at 14:15. Organizers: David McGady, Ilaria Brivio.
- Once every week or two we organize an informal journal club, the HET Journal club, in which group members or visitors discuss recent research papers or other topics of interest. The journal clubs take place on Wednesdays at 12:30 in room Fb6 above the canteen, and the attendees are encouraged to bring and enjoy their lunch. Organizer: Matthias Wilhelm.
